Visual Thinking and the consumer exeperience

The ‘5 Digital Trends Shaping the Consumer Experience’ include visual thinking, according to Macala Wright Lee, a retail consultant. She has recently written on Mashable and article on the topic and says: “As the world moves towards thinking in pictures and processing information through graphics, the use of visual thinking is becoming more compelling”.

She brings the example of Group partners, a consultancy company which uses ‘structured visual thinking‘. This is one of ther visuals, potraying an overview of their 4d approach:

An example of knowledge visualization on the move 🙂 from Oxford, UK.

The period table is probably the most amazing example of knowledge visualization: it enables insights (indeed, to understand that some elements were not yet discovered!), offers overview-zoom, and details on demand (if you have an interactive version) as in Schneiderman’s mantra, it’s color coded for an easier navigation, and can also be used for visually pleasant marketing activities, as above!
